SISM is the first international school based on the Soka humanistic values offering the IGSCE and IB curriculums. Embodying the founding principles, vision and mission of the school, SISM aims to foster a continuous stream of global citizens – rich in humanity and intellect.

SISM’s academic team consists of highly experienced and dedicated faculty from overseas and within Malaysia to enable each student to manifest their highest potential and become truly happy. The academic team and staff at SISM all practice the humanistic value-creating philosophy of Soka Education in which the happiness of the learner is paramount.

Yes, SISM is part of the Soka education system which consists of Soka schools in Japan, Hong Kong, Brazil, Singapore, Malaysia as well as universities in Japan and the United States of America. SISM will have an exchange programme with other Soka institutions for the benefit of the students.

The classrooms are purpose-built to foster collaboration and exploration among students. In addition, the school will be designed with vast outside learning areas, specialized labs, open classrooms and collaborative spaces for students to work. Our open floor plan and spacious interior provide a comfortable, safe, unique, conducive and enriching learning environment.

Our sports facilities include a 50m Olympic size swimming pool, a large multi-purpose sports hall, field and track to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.

SISM Academic Information

SISM is scheduled to open in August 2023 and in the first year we will open admission to Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9** only. Higher grades and more classes will be added in subsequent years.

*Admission to Year 7 and above is dependent on the availability of seats in the corresponding academic year and meeting the admission requirements. It is subject to an interview and assessment conducted by SISM’s admission panel.

Learners need to have completed a minimum number of schooling years and also be proficient in English. Please click here for more details.

SISM is an international school committed to fostering global citizens and English is the medium of instruction. This means classes (except foreign language classes) will be conducted in English language.

SISM has three terms in an academic year, commencing in August and ending in early July the following year. Broadly, the terms are as follows:

  • Term 1 – August to December
  • Term 2 – January to April
  • Term 3 – April to July

SISM is committed to fostering global citizens and English is the medium of instruction. For students to be able to learn and participate in the activities successfully at SISM, it is important they have a good command of English. Therefore, at the time of admission, all students are required to sit for an English language proficiency test which SISM will arrange.

The minimum English language proficiency level required for application to SISM is shared in the table below:

SISM follows the regular school days schedule in Malaysia, which is from Monday to Friday.

School hours at SISM are the same throughout the week i.e., 8.00am – 3.30pm (except when there are special events at the school)

After school activities will be from 4:00pm – 5:00pm during school days.

SISM follows a humanistic student-centred educational approach based on the (Soka) Value Creating philosophy. In this approach ‘the happiness of the learner’ is the main focus. It aims to stimulate and encourage the flowering of each student’s unique creative potential to bloom to its fullest, empowering them to be genuine learners and future-ready global citizens.

SISM is committed to providing personalised learning and individual attention to each student through small sized classrooms of maximum 20 students.

Yes, we will offer two English language programmes to support students to improve their English language skills. The first is English as a Second Language which will be aligned to the Cambridge curriculum and additional support will also be offered after school through the English Enrichment Programme (EEP). Both the courses will be designed keeping in mind the level of the student and will enhance each student’s English language skills and competency.

To ensure ‘no student is left behind’, each student will get personalised attention and maximum support from our professionally trained English language teachers in small sized classes.

Yes. Based on the guidelines given by the Malaysian Ministry of Education it is mandatory for all Malaysian students to learn Bahasa Melayu.

General Information

Yes. SISM provides two types of boarding facilities to our students:

  • Full boarding
  • Weekday boarding (5 nights stay).

SISM provides a variety of facilities to allow our boarders to feel at home. Students are encouraged to participate in activities beyond schoolwork with other boarders from across the world, enabling them to forge networks of friendship. Live-in House Masters and Resident Executives will provide a high degree of pastoral care, looking after the welfare of each student. The boarding house will also be equipped with high security services around the clock to ensure everyone’s safety.

Yes. At SISM, the health and well-being of our students are our priority. An on-site qualified nurse is available to manage and assess any health issues that may arise during and after school hours (for boarders). The school clinic is equipped with the basic facilities to address our students’ needs.
